​RHP General Agency, Inc. (RHPGA) was established in January 2014 in conjunction with the acquisition of Republic Home Protectors, Inc. from the Republic Group by a group of private investors lead by Cory Moulton and Omena Partners, LLC. Southern Vanguard Insurance Company (SVIC) was also acquired by the investment group in the same transaction.

Republic Home Protectors, Inc. was incorporated in 2004 and was owned jointly by the Republic Group and Terry Cotter who has served as President of the Company since its inception.  In 2017 RHPGA purchased a book of similar business written by Sycamore Insurance Agency.  This allowed RHPGA to not only grow revenue but obtain additional employees with over 100 years of experience in the same market. 

RHPGA is a Texas licensed Managing General Agency that writes residential property in Texas through a network of independent insurance agents. The Company’s focus is on providing insurance on properties that don’t qualify for coverage in conventional markets. The Company prides itself on common sense underwriting and providing a user friendly business environment for its agency force.

All policies are underwritten by Southern Vanguard Insurance Company which carries an A- (Excellent) rating by AM Best.

Cory Moulton
Chairman
Cory Moulton was the lead investor in the 2014 acquisition of RHP General Agency, Inc. and Southern Vanguard Ins. Co. and currently serves as the Chairman of both companies.  He formed Omena Partners, LLC in 2011 as a vehicle to advise for and invest in select insurance industry opportunities.  Mr. Moulton has an extensive background with over 25 years of experience in the global reinsurance and specialty primary insurance industry.
From April 2005 through March 2011, he served in various senior management roles with HCC Insurance Holdings, Inc. ("HCC"), including Chief Executive Officer of PIA, Inc. and Executive Vice President of U.S. Property and Casualty.  HCC is a NYSE-listed specialty insurer with approximately $3.5 billion of shareholders' equity, an approximately $4.5 billion market capitalization and $2.8 billion of annual gross written premiums.
Prior to HCC, Mr. Moulton co-founded Tobat Capital Partners, a venture fund which raised and invested more than $70 million in early stage technology companies focused on the financial services sector.  Mr. Moulton began his career with E.W. Blanch Holdings, where he served in roles ranging from new account production executive to President of the London based E.W. Blanch International.

Greg Vanek

Mr. Vanek graduated from Baylor University with a degree in business administration in 1983.  He began his insurance career in 1985 when he became an underwriter for Texas Farm Bureau.  After a time with Farm Bureau, he joined National Lloyds Insurance Company.  Over a 27-year career with National Lloyds, Greg was Vice President of Marketing, Chief Operating Officer, President and CEO until 2012.  After a brief time in retirement he joined forces with Conifer Holdings to start a Dwelling Fire program utilizing Sycamore as the MGA. 
RHPGA successfully completed the acquisition of the book of business written by Sycamore and Greg is now CEO of RHPGA and Southern Vanguard Insurance Company.

Karl Lauritzen Jr.
​CIO
After starting at the University of Oklahoma, Karl graduated from Oklahoma Junior College  with a degree in Computer Science and Business in 1984.  He began his insurance career in 1984 with a computer service bureau then moved on to the Texas Farm Bureau for 3 more years.  He then joined National Lloyds Insurance Company in 1988.  Over a 25-year career with National Lloyds,  Karl was Executive Vice President and CIO until 2012.  He was the Chief Architect of their policy administration system including a transformation of it onto the internet in 2001.  After a brief time in other industries and doing consulting work he joined forces with Greg Vanek to start a Dwelling Fire program utilizing Sycamore as the MGA. 
Karl is now CIO of RHPGA and Southern Vanguard Insurance Company along with being on the Board of Directors of RHP & Southern Vanguard Insurance Company.  Karl resides in Waco, Texas with his wonderful wife Dora.

Van Durboraw
​CFO
He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Duquesne University. Van Durboraw has worked in the Property and Casualty Insurance Industry for over 20 years and has worked in the Texas market for the same period.  He started his career with Trinity Universal Insurance Company and worked also for RenRe Insurance (now part of QBE), and Houston International Insurance Group prior to joining RHP/Southern Vanguard Insurance Company in February 2014.
Van in his role as Chief Financial Officer is responsible for the accounting, finance, control, financial reporting, and tax functions of the Group.
Van earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration from University of Texas at Arlington, a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from University of Texas at Austin. He is married and has 2 daughters. He, and his family reside in Houston, Texas.

Adria​ Golden
​Director of Operations
Adria Golden has worked in the Insurance Industry for over 20 years. She has worked with many of the current top Agents and with Terry Cotter, former President of RHP/Southern Vanguard and Columbia Lloyds since 1994.
She began her insurance career at Columbia Lloyds Insurance Company while going to college. She assisted Terry Cotter, former President of Columbia Lloyds.  She started as an Administrative Assistant for 6 years and became the Office Coordinator her last 5 years with Columbia Lloyds.
She then was the Administrative/Marketing Coordinator at Republic Home Protectors (RHP)/Southern Vanguard from 2005 until 2014.
 After the 2014 acquisition of RHP General Agency, Inc. and Southern Vanguard Ins. Co, her role is Director of Operations and serves on the Board of Directors for the Company.
Adria graduated from Aldine Senior High School in 1993.  She received her Associates of Arts Degree in 1997 from North Harris Community College. 
Adria resides in Magnolia,TX with her husband and son.

 

Felecie Medellin
​Director of Claims
Felecie Medellin began working for RHP in December of 2008. She obtained her license in Property and Casualty Adjusting in 2007 and obtained her General Lines Agent License in 2006.  She has worked with independent agencies along with other insurance carriers throughout her career over the last 10 years.  As Director of Claims for RHP, she oversees the claims department according to company procedures and facilitates the handling of all claims.  She is also proud to serve on the Board of Directors for Southern Vanguard Insurance Company.
